Buddha Jayanti 2021 – new Buddha Statue at Prime Minister’s residence
Like every year, Baisakh Purnima this year falls on May 26, 2021. The birthday of Gautam Buddha (Siddhartha Gautam) and the day he died fell on the same day. Actually, it was not only the birth and death, he received his enlightenment on the very day.

Buddha was born in Lumbini, current day Nepal. At that time it was Shakya Kingdom. Although he was born a prince, he wanted to find the truth of life and left his palace in search of wisdom.
He wanted to know why people suffer, why they get sick and die. He was 29-years-old when he finally decided to leave his home.
This year, Nepal’s prime minister unveiled a statue of Buddha installed in the premise of the residence of the Prime Minister. It is to be noted that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s wife, Radhika Shakya belongs to Buddha’s clan, the Shakyas.

Sadly, all we know about Buddha is that he was born in Nepal. We Nepalese do not even care to spare some time to think and investigate, what this man gave to the world that almost half of the world at some point followed his path. Why country like India was 80% Buddhist till 12th century. Why country like Burma, thailand, Laos, Combodia, Srilanka, Vietnam, china, Japan has majority of their population following the teaching of this enlightened being.
